International Attendee Travel Information

We look forward to welcoming participants from around the world to the 2027 IEEE PES International Meeting in Beijing, China. As you prepare for your journey, please review the following travel guidelines to help ensure a smooth and successful arrival.

Visa Information for International Attendee

International participants are eligible for two major Chinese official visa-free entry schemes issued by the National Immigration Administration and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China for academic participation, conference attendance and short-related activities:

1. 30-Day Unilateral Visa-Free Entry for 50 Eligible Countries

Holders of a foreign passport from 50 countries can enter mainland China visa-free for conference attendance, academic exchange, business visit and sightseeing, with a maximum continuous stay of 30 calendar days.

Eligible countries: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russian Federation, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Bahrain, Brunei Darussalam, Japan, Kuwait, Oman, Republic of Korea, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Peru, Uruguay, Australia, New Zealand.

Brunei citizens enjoy permanent unilateral visa-free access. The arrangement for Russian citizens remains valid until 31 December 2027. For the remaining 48 countries, the policy is valid until 31 December 2026; further regulations will be released later.

2. 240-Hour (10-Day) Transit Visa Exemption for 55 Eligible Countries

This transit visa-free policy stays in force permanently after December 17, 2024. Holders of a foreign passport from 55 countries must hold valid confirmed onward flight tickets departing China to a third country/region within 240 hours upon entry, instead of round-trip tickets back to home country. Qualified attendees may stay up to 10 consecutive days within authorized regions of China to attend the conference.

Eligible countries: Albania, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, United Kingdom, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Mexico, United States, Australia, New Zealand, Brunei, Indonesia, Japan, Qatar, Republic of Korea, Singapore, United Arab Emirates.

3. Apply for a Chinese Visa

If you are ineligible for both above two visa-free schemes, you are required to apply for a Chinese visa beforehand at your local Chinese Embassy or Consulate. The 2027 IEEE PES International Meeting organizing committee will provide an official invitation letter once your registration has been fully completed.

Travel Guidelines

Verify travel documents: Ensure your visa, or other required paperwork is valid and aligns with your travel purpose.
Organize essential documents: Prepare all required materials, including event confirmation, hotel booking, and return flight details, ready at the border.
Arrival considerations: International travelers may experience longer processing times at ports of entry.

International Participants – Important Reminder

If you have not received your visa by 20 December 2026, you should consider cancelling your registration because there will be no refunds for attendees who do not get their visa. You can always register again later or onsite if you get your visa. The US$50 processing fee will still be forfeited. IEEE PES IM 2027 organizing committee cannot intervene on your behalf to help you get your visa. Remember: You can print a letter confirming registration to use for VISA applications.
